White Ediface by Antipas Delovato

In this particular piece entitled White Edifice by Antipas Delovato. Delotavo contrasts the sublime and pristine white of the surrounding architecture with the muddy and muted browns and blacks of the pedestrians and the street. Delotavo’s piece can be seen as the current state of the human condition amidst rapid urbanization and development. The contrast between the two elements of the piece speaks volumes about what society truly values in this day and age. White Edifice showcases the true nature of the face of the facade that is rugged modernization.

Balay ni Mayang

by Kyle Wong and Marianne Dungog

Two young lovers, both 19, collaborated on creating this good music. In one of their interviews, Marianne said that it was her idea to join vispop. She told Kyle about it and decided to help her. While on the way to her house, Kyle manage to make a catchy tune and eventually use it for the song. They didnt know what to write at first so they came to a final thought, “Unsa man atong buhaton most of the time together?”. Because of Mayang's parents are so strict, He visit her there as they typically forbid her from leaving the house. Perhaps they were simply writing from experience. It was performed by martina Sandiego and Kyle Wong. It became a huge hit in the Visayas and Mindanao, the contemporary Bisdak song "Balay ni Mayang," which took third place in the Visayan Pop Music Festival last year, is also receiving a lot of airplay in Manila. Cebuanos all over the world seem to like it because of its plaintively resonant "good vibes" and folky feel that can only come from one place—the heart

The Ruins Mansion by Don Mariano

The Ruins Mansion is the remains of an ancestral home built in 1920 by a wealthy sugar baron named Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson. Don Mariano constructed the mansion as a testament of his love for his Portuguese wife, Cora Maria Osorio Rosa-Braga, after she passed away in 1911. Maria, who was pregnant with their eleventh child at the time, lost her and their baby’s lives after figuring in an accident. Don Mariano built the structure in a 440-hectare sugar plantation situated in the border of present-day Talisay and Bacolod. Its architecture was described as Italianate due to deriving inspiration from Italian Architecture. However, it was later set aflame in 1942 by Filipino guerilla fighters employed by the United States Armed Forces during the Second World War. This was done in order to prevent its use as a military office by the Invading Japanese Forces. It continuously burned for three days until only its current cement frame was left standing. The original intention was to burn it to the ground. Despite losing the majority of the mansion, its ruins have been recognized as one of the architectural wonders of the Philippines. It has also gained titles such as the “Taj Majal of the Philippines.”

An Iroy Nga Tuna

By Illuminado Lucente

An iroy nga tuna matam-is pagpuy-an

Bisan diin siplat puros kasangkayan

Hahani ang hingpit nga at’ kalipayan

Hahani hira Nanay, pati kabugtoan

Lugaring mahiblon, ha dughan bati-on

Nga an Pilipinas, dayuday uripon

Ay, tuna ak’ natuwohan

Hain daw an hingpit nga at’ katalwasan.

“The theme of this poem is the ‘Love for Country’. It is all about the sweetness of living and dying in one’s motherland, however, lamenting the bondage from colonial masters. The pain of not being free from one’s cruel hands makes everyone suffer a dream of freedom.”

Ipanumpa ko By Oh!Caraga

Bisaya band Oh! Caraga, with their song titled "Ipanumpa ko," was chosen as one of the finalists in the World Category of the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) 2020. "Ipanumpa ko” is the only Bisaya song to make it to the top one percent among 26,000 entries. "Ipanumpa ko” is about a higher form of love—a kind of love that crosses boundaries, moves and shakes societies, and challenges oneself to be steadfast. It can also describe a relationship, friendship, family, or something spiritual. One of the inspirations the members got for the song was love—love that is bigger than one's self. The band also wanted its listeners and the world to see a new side of music, especially in the Visayas and Mindanao. They also wanted to witness the rise of Bisaya music in the world. When asked why they choose to write a Bisaya song, Adam said that Bisaya is a language the Filipinos should be proud of. "Bisaya language is something we shouldn't be ashamed of, but rather it is something we should be proud of," Adam said "Bisaya is part of our identity. The only way we can gain the attention of the world is when we show our genuine identity with pride through our art. And I think that is what happened here," he added.

“IT’S SO DELIGHTFUL TO LOVE, ISN’T IT? ‘Tsada’ could mean wonderful, beautiful, delicious, pretty, handsome, and then ‘mahigugma’ is love. What this means is, it’s good to feel love and feel loved,” Maymay explained the meaning of the song when she delivered an unexpected performance of the song at the 1MX London Music Festival last July.
